Episode 001: Memorial Day Weekend
A very light and frothy podcast. We begin with a quotation from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” and end with an extended description of our long weekend’s activities. Summer’s almost here!

Greetings from the thick-aired, gator-filled swamps of Florida! I enjoyed the show, but I’m exhausted listening to all of your activities. You guys certainly stay busy. 🙂 I dig your little guitar intro. I’m assuming that was you, Rick, right? Maybe you could play a few seconds at the end, too, to provide a little transition to the next podcast on the old playlist.
Eliana – great job on the Puck speech! I had to memorize his closing speech (“If we shadows have offended…”) when I was in Junior High many, many, many years ago. Can’t remember much more than that, though. 🙂
I do have two suggestions that might help your enjoyable podcast even better. First, when you talk about synagogue and organizational stuff, it might be nice to explain abbreviations, acronyms, rituals, etc., since not everyone in your audience will have the same frames of reference. For example, I wonder if everyone knows that BBYO is an organization for Jewish teens (B’Nai Brith Youth Organization). Even if you forget to mention it in the podcast, you could link to such things in the show notes.
The other suggestion is actually more of a request since I have no idea how to fix this myself. Could you check on the audio levels? I found myself having to turn up the volume on my speakers to max in order to hear you properly. Granted, I don’t have the best hearing in the world (just ask my kids next time you see them), but I do think the levels are a little low.
Much love to you both (and to my SIL, nephew and neph-dog, too)!
Audrey
Great show, as usual. (Keep this up and I might have to nominate you for a Podcast Peer Award.)
I agree with Audrey on the levels – perhaps you could look into using Levelator – a free program that will balance the levels. A lot of podcasters use it. If you need some help on how to use it let me know.
Thanks, for the comments, Audrey and Jen!
I’ve reposted the audio with the level on the main voice track cranked up as much as I could. I fear it may still be a bit too low–need to work on sitting closer to the mike and keeping an eye on the input levels. I will check out Levelator for next time.
Also, I added a link to BBYO, and posted the pictures I promised.
Hooray Rick and Eliana! Great job on your podcast show. I enjoyed listening to you both with your F-A-D banter and insights. Keep up the great work!
